ARY Zauq TV Website Review

By Farhan Kamal • Jul 30th, 2008 • Category: Features, Website-Reviews

Today in our website analysis series, we will review www.aryzauq.tv

Masala TV in Pakistan now has competition. Ary Group, which I guess is the largest network of channels, has launched their 24/ Pakistani Food channel ARY Zauq. Launched recently, the channel has limited audience but there is positive buzz about the channel. Since I am more into websites then cooking, I will start right away with the analysis.
First Impressions
Ary now seems to be more focused on their websites, and I wasn’t surprised to see a professional looking website for the new channel. It’s clean, it’s green (the brand’s color) and information seems laid out pretty well.

Since the website is still under construction, I will follow up with a detailed review as soon as the final version is up.

  2. Hello, Its nice to know that you are launching a channel for food programs. I wish to host a program for food/cooking in your channel. I can send you my details if required. Kindly give me the relevant email address on which I should forward those.

    Good luck..

    Saima K.Ali.

  3. was reading the comments and came across Saima comments, kindly can you forward her to our website or the following email:

    For Saima K. Ali,
Kindly mail your contacts at talenthunt@masalatv.tv for your interests in cooking shows.

As for ARY ZAuq well we always welcome good competition and appreciate the fact that ARY has also taken a bold step in providing a dedicated channel for food.

  4. i was more than happy to see your chennel coming on air and thought that i would never go back to BBC FOOD but my happiness was rather short lived as the quality of your programmes deteriorated very rapidly.
first of all what is the idea behind placing a dumb blond beside every chef who just keep of talking and delivering nothing, one such model was answereing phone calls and the caller told her that she was from Jehlum on which she remarked “oh the city near Lahore?”
the other thing that really bothers me is the accent and pronunciation of the blodies, e.g. the word is “KARAHI” and not “KARHAI (embroidery)” there is an unending list of where the blondies and some time even chefs do not know the exact meaning and practiclities of the terms they are using.
my humble request is to take out extra people out of the show so that your show remain as food shows and not fashion shows.
Please ask for advice from a person who really knows how to kook as we the audience have real trust in you and your shows and would not want to absorb wrong terms and technical terms to pass on.

  5. OK so i came a bit harsh on the guys and dolls but still standing on my grounds that we the audience want someone who knows what he or she is doing and that person does not need another person who just stands there and speaks only to reveal his or her incompetency to the subject metter. we tend to have a complete faith in the chef (male or female) but fact of the metter is that most of the time they are not delivering. Please watch BBC Food and you will see that the number of mistakes are minimum. One learns after seeing such programs and i myself would be more than happy to get the same amount of satisfation from our local channels because we do have big names in kooking why are we wasting them. we would also like to listen to good urdu (like we used to hear from Radio Pakistan) and not a mixture of English+Urdu+French that is not handled by the most of the hostesses wrongly.

  6. Re: KAMAL HAMEED BHATTI remarks:

I dont know whethr your remarks were intended towards MASALA or ZAUQ.
As for my channel (MASALA TV) yes we need a lot of imporvement…and we always appreciate feedback specially the criticism as it helps us improve our shows.

We have to keep in mind that like many things here in Pakistan we are in dire need of good educated people to come forward and share their skills….as far as cooking is concerend let me ask how many ppl who are reading this have ever considered sending their kids in this field…or for that matter considered pursuing cooking as a career for themselves?

We have a very open polivy of giving good people a chance to come and sharetheir skills and if they are good they will be given a platform to excel. do contact us for any talent related queries on
    talenthunt@masalatv.tv
simplay mail us your pictures and CV alog with any food experience.
If you want to participate or you know someone who is good at that do let us know.

Also we are not only looking for professional Chefs but ppl who have the passion for good food and a healthy lifestyle. anyone and everyone can apply and share thier skills at whatever level.

As for BBC FOOD….well there are a lot of arguments but the basic one is simple thats its simply not intendedfor the Pakistani audience…even internationally it isfollowed by professionals…Food network is another story. We take inspiration from BBC food…but then again the CHEFS they have are worl class and trained in international institutes ….kindly find one in Pakistan for us.

  7. FARHAN KAMAL!!!
Dont know if you can mange it but do review MASALA website again. There have been some recent changes and we would like your feedback. Thanks. Osman
P.S: just so that you know we do monitor all reviews and feedback related to our brand and share them with our Managment. Your link was also shared across the board and i recieved loads of appreciation… Thanks to you.

  8. Re: Osman remarks:
i know the basic problem with us at the moment that we do not have shefs of international standards but still we should not compare ourselves with shefs abroad as our requirements for the food ingredients are different altogether (specially when it comes to adding wine and bacon into the recepies). I liked the idea of having websites (like this one of course) for improving the standards of our local programs. Good and positive criticism always helps a lot. I wish I could be of more help to you guys but my daily routine with my job does not permit me to help you more than occasional e-mails on your websits. In the meanwhile please keep up the good work and try to educate more on your subject mattter rather than chating about the looks, clothes and other stuff that is quite irrelevent and we do have other programmes for singing, fashion etc.

  9. Hats off to our two chefs (Chef Mehboob and Chef Saadat) who are doing far better than the rest of the crowd. They surly know their job, the techniques and method to approach what they intend to do is commendable. When a person knows his job he acts like these two gentlemen are doing. Their simplicity and knowledge of their trade is the key to their success and a far brighter future. People like these become assets to whatever institution/chennel/organization they are attached to.
